Merla has conquered many planets in her reign as queen, and she Allies herself with Zarkon, hoping to add more planets to her dominion. She has Psychic powers which allow her to make people do as she wishes, which aids her cunning and overall badness. During her alliance with Zarkon, she fell in love with Lotor, and even married him for a brief amount of time. Near the end of the original voltron series, Merla's evil side fades away and she becomes a good guy (pardon the phrase) because of her love for Lotor. In space, she flies in a Starcutter, but on land, she has a ship shaped like Pegasus. Do not underestimate Merla, because she will make you do what she wants...
